How long should i wait before talking to him?

So my friend and I have had a rocky relationship for the past few months. He graduated and i won;t see him at school in the fall so now I'm worried that since I won;t be seeing him much I won;t have the opportunity to patch things up and repair the friendship. We haven't spoken since June 3rd so it's been 8 days but i don;t know how long of a break we should take. I want to talk to him before he leaves for EDC on June 24th and I want to be able to see him on his birthday when he comes back because He'll be leaving to Europe for a month. Our problems have mostly been my own fault and have to do with emotional and attachment issues after i came out and him being my first...yeah. you get the idea. so what should i do? he even says he doesnt really care anymore but yet he says if i really have something to say that he's willing to listen.
