Advice on reading for an empirical psychology thesis, have to narrow my topic down?

Its an undergraduate one its 10000 words and i have to read over the summer to have a decent proposal and rough lit review ready for september. just seems like a massive amount of reading to do and i keep getting overwhelmed in the process please help?
